A split sheet is a signed document that lists every writer of a song and the percentage of the composition each one owns. Publishers, PROs and distributors use it to pay royalties to the right people.
A split sheet signed by every writer is a written agreement between them and is commonly used as proof of ownership. It is not legal advice: for a large deal or a dispute, have a music lawyer review it.
The writers decide. Many sessions split evenly between everyone who wrote; others split by contribution, such as lyrics, melody and beat. The only rule is that the shares total 100%.
Composition splits cover the song itself, its words and melody, and pay publishing and performance royalties. Master splits cover one recording of it and pay from that recording's streams and sales. Add master owners to put both on one sheet.
No. The sheet is built and downloaded in your browser, and nothing you type is sent to Aden.
